Creating Joy and Connection

through Neurodiversity affirming Care

Continuing Education, Resources, Community Building for Neurodivergent affirming physical therapy

Course Title:

Neurodiversity Affirming Physical Therapy in Pediatrics

Course description:

Pediatric physical therapists are on the front line of working with neurodiverse patient populations and often do not have the tools to provide neurodiversity friendly physical therapy interventions.  This course focuses on the need for a neurodivergent informed, alternative framework for physical therapy treatment that honors the child's individual needs and learning differences to create safety, connection and joy throughout PT interventions. This course will introduce the Demand Modulation Framework as a neurodiversity-affirming decision-making tool that can be implemented to improve the delivery of treatment interventions to a wide variety of patient populations. This class is designed for all PTs and PTAs working in pediatric physical therapy practice settings. APTA Colorado Approved Course: CUEL150475

Family Quote:

“Our first PT didn’t understand that learning could be fun, it was more of a check the box experience.  I felt like the stress was not only put on me, but my son felt it too.  That led to total meltdowns and not wanting to go back.  We didn’t know we had other options.”

Physical Therapist Quote

“This framework has changed the way I approach my sessions and has improved how I connect with the kids on my caseload.”
